About A-1 Concrete Leveling Services

OUR STORY

Living in Western New York, winter takes a heavy toll on concrete. The last thing any of us want to deal with is our concrete sinking, pitching, or failing, especially when it creates an unsafe walking environment or a situation where water is directed in a way that accelerates the problem. At A-1 Concrete Leveling it is our goal to offer accurate estimates, fair pricing, professional workers, high-quality results, guaranteed work, environmentally-friendly processes, and minimal disruption when correcting your concrete problems. If your concrete is sunken but the slabs are in good condition we will do our best to take the hassle out of protecting your home or business.

A-1 Concrete Leveling was started in Buffalo in 2007 by Pete and Nicole Easton. Prior to A-1’s arrival in Western New York, concrete leveling was not widely available in the area even though it was desperately needed due to the harsh freeze and thaw conditions which occur every Winter resulting in sinking, uneven concrete.

Although Pete was born in Buffalo his family relocated to Marquette, Michigan, when Pete was a toddler. Growing up on Lake Superior, Pete was always very comfortable with inclement weather, so choosing to serve Western New York residents and businesses with concrete leveling services was an easy climate choice for him. Nicole, on the other hand, grew up in Arizona and the ongoing joke (still, over a decade later) is that Pete tricked her into moving to Buffalo by telling her that it barely ever snowed here. Of course she knew better!

Prior to starting A-1, Pete and Nicole worked in the global consumer goods industry for fifteen and thirteen years respectfully. Pete was based in Youngstown, Ohio, and then Cleveland, Ohio, and Nicole was in Portland, Oregon, and then Phoenix, Arizona. Their career paths were mirrored until they were both brought into the corporate office in Atlanta, Georgia, where their two-year long-distance relationship finally allowed them to be together. While they enjoyed many aspects of the various sales and marketing positions they held throughout the years, Pete couldn't help wondering if he was working so diligently for somebody else, how hard would he work for himself.

In 2006 Pete began considering leaving the consumer goods industry to start a business. But the question was what business and where? Familiar with concrete leveling because of friends who had been operating A-1 Concrete Leveling businesses in Ohio and Pennsylvania for over a decade, Pete had the fortunate opportunity to meet Grover Miller, inventor of the patented pumping equipment system used on the A-1 pumping trucks. He began to consider markets to start an A-1 franchise, and, after careful consideration, it came down to Milwaukee or Buffalo.

Pete went to college outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and felt comfortable choosing Milwaukee, but he was born in Buffalo and that tie felt like going back to his beginning, returning to his roots. Milwaukee already had a moderately developed concrete leveling offering but WNY residents didn't have a consistent concrete leveling option.

Buffalo was sealed by a few things: the adjacency to friends in Ohio and Pennsylvania as a resource, excitement at the thought of developing a whole new market for concrete leveling in a community that was re-energizing, and the thing that everyone said would never happen...Grover Miller, the quiet-spoken inventor of A-1’s equipment, told Pete: "Buffalo."
